Sanitation Worker II

We are seeking a dependable and safety-focused Sanitation Worker II to join our team. This position plays a critical role in maintaining community cleanliness and environmental sustainability through the collection and transportation of residential waste and bulk items. As part of a two-person truck crew, team members will alternate between driving and collection duties throughout the route. This role requires physical stamina, a strong commitment to safety, and the ability to work effectively in varying weather conditions while providing excellent service to the community. Pay: Up to $24.00 per hour

Key Responsibilities

• Safely operate commercial sanitation vehicles on assigned collection routes.
• Ride on the rear platform of the truck to collect residential waste.
• Load and transport waste materials safely and efficiently.
• Tag bulk items for scheduled special pickups.
• Follow assigned routes and collection schedules.
• Perform daily pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections.
• Ensure vehicles are properly fueled, serviced, and maintained.
• Perform light preventive maintenance on assigned equipment.
• Follow all traffic laws, safety procedures, and waste disposal regulations.
• Wear all required PPE and comply with OSHA safety standards.
• Provide courteous and professional interactions with residents and the public.
• Assist during emergency response situations as needed.
• Work collaboratively with team members to complete daily routes efficiently.

Required Qualifications

• Valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL).
• Current DOT Medical Card.
• Minimum of 2 years of commercial driving experience within the past 5 years.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds regularly throughout the workday.
• Ability to carry, reach, bend, push, pull, climb, and perform physically demanding tasks.
• Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
• Ability to pass background screening and drug testing requirements.
• Must wear steel-toed boots daily.
• Knowledge of occupational health and safety regulations.
• Commitment to OSHA safety standards and PPE compliance.
• Strong teamwork and communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous sanitation, waste management, recycling, or solid waste industry experience.
• Experience operating commercial collection vehicles.
• Strong customer service skills.
• Experience working in safety-sensitive environments.

Physical Requirements

• Frequent lifting of up to 50 pounds.
• Continuous walking, standing, bending, climbing, pushing, and pulling.
• Ability to work in heat, cold, rain, and other outdoor conditions.
• Ability to safely ride on the rear of a collection vehicle during routes.
