Overview As a Military Police, you’ll protect people’s lives and property on Army installations by enforcing military laws and regulations. You’ll also control traffic, prevent crime, and respond to all emergencies. You will conduct force protection, anti‑terrorism, area security, and police intelligence operations. Additional duties include training in corrections and detention, investigations, mobility, and security worldwide. General Qualifications Must have an interest in joining the Army. U.S. citizen or permanent resident alien. 17 to 34 years old. Healthy and in good physical condition. In good moral standing with no felony‑level offenses. Must be able to meet height/weight standards. No major medical procedures that would prohibit you from service. No tattoos on the hands, neck, or face. Requirements 10 weeks of Basic Training 20 weeks of One Station Unit Training and on‑the‑job instruction in police methods Certifications 46 nationally recognized certifications available. Compensation Up to $40,000 enlistment bonuses Up to $115,000 in additional education benefits 30 days vacation with pay per year Additional living expenses for dependents Clothing and food allowance Centrally located Education and Financial Advisors Travel allowances Education Benefits The Post‑9/11 GI Bill provides full tuition coverage, housing, and book stipends. It pays up to full tuition for public, in‑state schools and up to $25,000 per year for private or foreign schools, depending on service length. The Montgomery GI Bill – Active Duty covers a combination of your paycheck contributions and government funding for up to 36 months, with direct payments to you. The Montgomery GI Bill – Selected Reserve offers education benefits for up to 36 months in exchange for a six‑year service commitment. Benefits must be used while serving and end when service stops.
