Job Description

BKV Group seeks a talented Lighting Designer with 8–12 years of experience in architectural lighting design to join our Electrical Engineering team in Washington, DC. In this role, you will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to deliver thoughtful, high‑performance lighting solutions across a diverse portfolio of project types, including multifamily, hospitality, corporate/commercial, and civic/government. We are looking for a design‑forward professional who brings both creative vision and technical rigor, and who thrives in a highly collaborative environment. Collaborate closely with architects, interior designers and engineers to integrate lighting solutions that align with overall project goals. Develop innovative lighting concepts that enhance aesthetics, functionality, and the user experience. Prepare and coordinate lighting documentation, including drawings, models, renderings, and client presentations in collaboration with all disciplines. Perform lighting calculations, photometric analysis, etc. to support design decisions and ensure compliance with applicable codes and standards. Utilize tools such as Revit, AGi32, and ElumTools to develop accurate and coordinated design solutions. Design and document lighting control strategies that balance design intent, performance, and budget. Manage multiple project deadlines while contributing to a collaborative, fast‑paced team environment. Support Senior Engineering Staff with contributions to broader project and team initiatives as needed. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Lighting Design, Architecture, Interior Design, Engineering, or related field. 8–12 years of professional experience in architectural lighting design. Proficiency in Revit, and lighting analysis tools (ex – AGi32, ElumTools). Strong knowledge of lighting systems, controls, and applicable energy codes. Lighting Certification (LC) preferred but not required. Excellent communication, organizational, and problem‑solving skills.
