Job Summary Job ID: 35464 Agency: Department of Social Services / Finance Location: Pierre, SD Salary: $22.19 Hourly, depending on qualifications Pay Grade: G Closing Date: Open Until Filled Full‑time, 40‑hour weekly position with the Department of Social Services. The mission of the South Dakota Department of Social Services is to strengthen and support individuals and families by promoting cost‑effective and comprehensive services in partnership with organizations that foster independent and healthy families. The Office of Recoveries & Fraud Investigations identifies situations where social services benefit programs were obtained inappropriately and seeks recovery when the state is owed money due to overpayment, error, fraud, or other responsible parties. The Financial Program Assistant maintains financial processes, monitors activities, reviews and reconciles documents, and prepares reports to ensure compliance with program guidelines. The Ideal Candidate Will Have: Knowledge of methods and practices of financial recordkeeping. Extensive knowledge of bookkeeping practices and procedures. Familiarity with finance and accounting work processes. Basic statistical knowledge. Proficiency with software applications. Experience in database development and maintenance. Train and provide guidance to staff and service users. Navigate various data sources and computer software. Conduct research and compile and analyze data. Establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff and the public. Compile complex financial records and prepare financial reports. Work independently and exercise judgment.
