Fiber Optic Splicer

Position Type: Full-Time Shifts: Day or Night Shifts (Flexibility Required)

Fiber Optic Splicer Overview

We are seeking an experienced Fiber Optic Splicer to support our Client's telecommunications infrastructure projects. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with both outside plant (OSP) and inside plant (ISP) splicing, strong technical troubleshooting abilities, and a commitment to safety and quality workmanship.

Fiber Optic Splicer Responsibilities

• Perform fiber optic splicing for both OSP and ISP environments, including ribbon splicing, ribbonizing, and splitting ribbons within 288 and 428 Fiber.
• Splice into live networks while ensuring accuracy, safety, and minimal service disruption.
• Conduct OTDR testing, interpret traces, and identify signal loss or faults.
• Troubleshoot fiber issues and apply proper repair or replacement techniques.
• Operate and maintain fiber splicing tools and equipment (fusion splicers, mechanical splicers, cleavers, OTDRs, and power meters).
• Utilize hand tools such as strippers, buffer tube splitters, and cable ring tools for proper fiber preparation and management.
• Ensure all work is compliant with industry standards and project specifications.
• Maintain organized work areas, documentation, and equipment inventory.

Fiber Optic Splicer Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of professional fiber splicing experience.
• Strong proficiency with fusion splicing, OTDRs, power meters, and related fiber tools.
• Experience with fiber optic cable installation is preferred.
• Must possess a valid driver's license and meet driving and safety requirements (including applicable medical or drug screenings).
• Must be punctual, detail-oriented, responsible, and able to work independently or as part of a team.
• Must be at least 18 years old.
