Hello, I’m Patricia
I am a multidisciplinary artist (painter, singer, performer), art educator with a focus on History of Art, astrology student/practitioner, and a facilitator of therapeutic art. I am best known as a professional painter and illustrator, with works collected, exhibited, and licensed in North America, Europe, and Australia. I was born and raised in Brazil and transplanted to the US by my Venus in Cancer and Saturn in the ninth house.
I showed up in this world with a colored pencil in my hands and big ideas in my head. Little did I know that I would get busy: a multifaceted artistic journey in which I would savor a little of everything, theater, dance, writing, music, and visual arts. On top of all that, my idealistic side (and Saturn again) led me to the path of teaching. As a young adult, I taught theater and ballet classes for several years, until I finally decided to complete my bachelor’s degree in art education. It has always been a fascinating experience to witness the transformative power of the arts to promote individual change.
My path as an astrology student started when I had barely left adolescence, which coincided with my interest in mysticism and the exploration of different fields of spirituality. I was immediately attracted by the field of Humanistic Astrology and the possibility of weaving creative expression with the archetypal richness offered by astrology seemed only natural. Before moving to the US, I attended a Jungian Art Therapy program in Brazil, which introduced me to the importance of Carl Jung’s work. That inspired me to start designing workshops combining those two areas of knowledge. Recognizing the connections between symbolism, art, and spirituality and how, when combined, they become powerful tools for healing and consciousness expansion.

My Approach to Astrology
To me, astrology is an art, with much in common with what I do as a painter or musician. It’s a language of nature, full of poetry and wonder. Being a humanistic astrologer, I consider it a tool for self-development, empowering individuals to take responsibility for their evolutionary journey. Predictive and “descriptive” astrology are not within the scope of my work; not because I don’t consider them valid tools, but because I am more attracted to a more dynamic, creative, and intuitive approach. When I think of Saturn, I think of the structure of my body, the stones that pave the ground I walk on, or how many years have passed since my last trip abroad. Mercury fills my lungs and connects me to other living beings. The Moon is in the stuff that nourishes my soul. They are not external “entities” but parts of us and the world around us, and should be honored as forces of harmony that will conduct us through our sacred path. I am committed to encouraging people not to bow to the designs of the stars, but to use their symbolism as a pathway to tap into their many possibilities of transformation.

Art and My Healing Journey
I am a true believer in the power of the arts to connect us to our deeper selves, in healing and provoking changes, and also in the principle that collective changes start in the individual. Throughout my life, I have relied upon creative expression not only to find purpose and my place in the world but also to gain clarity and find joy and solace whenever life becomes scary and challenging. As a neurodivergent person (ADHD), and having battled generalized anxiety disorder, depression, and questions of self-esteem for most of my life, I have no hesitancy in saying that the arts have always been of crucial importance for my well-being. I have understood myself as an artist since I was a child, and I can’t imagine myself following a different path. Art has helped me navigate all the major transitions I experienced as a woman, single mother, and Latino immigrant, empowering my decisions and reminding me to stay true to my inner essence. Being an artist means diving deep into both our bright and dark spaces, often allowing ourselves to bleed inside to face ourselves in their entirety. This process of integration is challenging but profoundly revelatory. It fascinates me how many times the creative process mimics life and how many lessons we can learn from it: patience, resilience, detachment from what no longer serves us, the power of fragility, the beauty of imperfection. The importance of being in the now, savoring life as it comes, and being grateful for every little gift—and every little challenge—it brings you.
My Approach and Values
- I have a commitment to empowering individuals through compassionate guidance, cultivating a safe, non-judgmental, and collaborative space where they can explore their thoughts and emotions freely.
- I honor and respect all personal experiences as being equally valuable and potentially transformative. I believe in every experience as a catalyst for evolution, based on the way we choose to deal with them.
- I believe in creativity as an innate characteristic of every human being, our point of connection with a higher consciousness, and therefore a recognition of our power. I see it as a right, and not as a privilege of a specific group of people.
- I am committed to embracing diversity and providing a safe space to people with backgrounds different from my own by actively listening to their experiences, educating myself on issues of inequality, and fostering an inclusive environment where everyone feels respected and valued.
- My approach to spirituality is universalist and non-religious. I understand the concept of God as a higher consciousness that encompasses all life in the universe, of which we are a creative manifestation. I understand that faith matters and I welcome in my practice people of all beliefs. I am committed to fostering a space of respect and freedom, allowing their expression in a safe and non-judgmental way.

“Compassion (Blessed are the meek)”, Patricia Ariel
